My son just turned 5 but he is very mature for his age, can he start riding lessons at KidRiders?
No. For the safety of your child, we have an age requirement of at least 8 years old. No exceptions.
Is there much equipment that I will need to buy for my child to have in order to start lessons?
Your child will be expected to wear long blue jeans and cowboy boots to every lesson. A helmet is required to be worn during all mounted lessons, many students choose to purchase their own but that is not required as KidRiders has helmets available for the students to wear.
Do I have to bring my own horse to KidRiders for lessons?
No. KidRiders has several schooling horses for you to ride. If you own your own horse you may bring it for your lessons after a mandatory evaluation.
Why does my child still need to come to lessons even if it is rainy weather?
Our lesson program emphasizes overall horsemanship which involves so much more than knowing how to get on a horse and ride it. Barn lesson instuction involves topics such as grooming, stable & leather care, equine anatomy, tack education and the list goes on.
What if it is stormy or icy weather, will barn lessons still be held?
In the event of extreme weather or long periods of bad weather, lessons will occasionally be rescheduled. Always plan to come to lessons at your scheduled time unless you receive an email, phone call or see a cancellation posted on the website. If in doubt, call ahead.
Does KidRiders have references available?
Absolutely, upon request. With permission of any one of our current parents, you would be more than welcome to speak with them.
Can we come to the barn whenever we want to and brush the horses?
Sorry, but for safety you must arrive only 10 minutes before your lesson begins unless instructed by Ms Bobbi. Our horses are kid friendlly, but they are horses and can be unpredictable. Remember, alittle bit of knowledge can be very dangerous around horses!
